Sparkx Ghent opened its doors last Wednesday in the Sint-Denijs-Westrem district. Sparkx Ghent, Europe's largest sports amusement park, is the second location, spanning a whopping 4,800 square meters. This follows the success of the first location in Hasselt, also Belgium, which welcomed over 200,000 visitors in the past eighteen months.

For us, this project presented a fascinating design puzzle. How do you create a coherent spatial experience for 50 different sporting attractions? Our approach combined functional layout planning with a strong interior design that translates the dynamics of sport into an efficient and attractive environment.

The concept design we developed ensures that visitors (aged 5 to 95) can enjoy both familiar sports like football, tennis, and basketball, as well as spectacular experiences like Formula 1 simulations and virtual skydiving. The layout facilitates a natural flow between the different zones, while the interior design and the choice of colors and materials contribute to the energetic vibe that befits a modern "sporttainment park."
Sparkx is positioning itself as a European pioneer in large-scale sports entertainment. Director Mathieu Reinier has ambitious plans: a global chain of 250 locations. Sparkx Ghent isn't an exact copy of Hasselt—about half of the activities will remain the same, while 25 new sports will be introduced specifically for Ghent.

At Ce., we are proud of our contribution to this innovative concept. The design supports the functional requirements of a modern sports center and also creates an environment where the sportainment concept truly comes into its own. The careful selection of materials, colors, and spatial layout creates an environment where technology, sports, and entertainment seamlessly blend.
