Sharing knowledge and learning from each other - that's what our biweekly CE lunches are all about. This week we had the pleasure of welcoming John Haenen of Interface, who took us through a fascinating story about environmental impact and sustainable materials.
The highlight? An in-depth look into the world of EPDs (Environmental Product Declaration). This environmental product declaration is actually a product's DNA passport, mapping its complete environmental impact. From cradle to grave, everything is measured:
CO2 emissions
Resource use
Energy and water consumption
Waste production
Impact on biodiversity
The story of how producers manage to make products with a negative carbon footprint was particularly inspiring. It proves that sustainable business is not only possible, but can also be successful.
We look back on a valuable session that brings us another step closer to more conscious and sustainable design.
Special thanks to John Haenen for sharing his expertise!
