New partners




AMSTERDAM - Amsterdam based and international active strategic design agency Claessens Erdmann announces the appointment of three new partners within the office of architects, interior architects, strategists, graphic designers and engineers. The new partners Sander Bos, Lieke Genten and Stefan van der Weele were introduced at the launch of the agency’s new visual identity and website.

Claessens Erdmann developed significant expertise in delivering concepts in the fields of retail & food-retail, hospitality, leisure and places where they come together. “We believe in the importance of physical spaces as meeting places in the broadest sense of the word. With our endless fascination for how people live their lives and the way this occurs in physical space we want to create spaces that are meaningful and enhance people’s lives. Commercial and non-commercial.” says co-founder Freek Claessens. “The new partners will continue to meet the strategic and creative challenges with great energy in creating such places”.

Sander Bos (1978), studied economic geography, spatial planning & design at the University of Groningen and Ball State University (USA), and brand management at the EURIB in Rotterdam. Sander previously worked at consulting firm DE LIJN/Inbo as strategic consultant. At Claessens Erdmann he advises on the development of branded environments on a strategic and conceptual level. His recent projects include the overall strategy and concept development for the Dutch shopping centers of Wereldhave, Austrian Supermarket chain Billa, the incubator Prodock for the Port of Amsterdam and the award winning design of the Hangar bus station for Schiphol Group.

Lieke Genten (1982), studied interior architecture at the Arts Academy in Maastricht and obtained her Master Architecture at the Rotterdam Academy of Architecture. Then she worked in succession at DeZwarteHond, DoepelStrijkers and Satijn+. Due to her background and experience Lieke has a highly analytical approach of the design profession. Recently she worked at the new interior for the Stedelijk Museum Breda, Van Gogh Museumshop, Land exposition Amsterdam Light Festival and Game, a South African based food and non-food formula, daughter of Wallmart.

Stefan van der Weele (1984), studied multimedia design and animation at the Graphic Lyceum in Rotterdam and interior architecture at the Willem de Kooning Academy. He worked, among other things, at Bureau Lakenvelder and DoepelStrijkers. Stefan is as concept developer and designer specialized in integral 2D and 3D consumer environments. He recently worked at the new concept of the Sligro Wholesale store and its experience center ZiN in Veghel, a new supermarket format for REWE Supermarkets in Germany and the new concept for Albert Heijn XL in Eindhoven.

Claessens Erdmann spatial design was founded in 1984 by Freek Claessens and Hans Erdmann and in 2003 joined by Hans Preeker as strategic (retail)specialist. The agency controls all stages of a spatial creative process. From the initial concept or (commercial) strategy to its design and implementation. It has a portfolio of national and international clients like: Action, Ahold Delhaize, Amvest, Billa (Austria), Game (South Africa), Nike (Europe), REWE Group (Germany), Sligro Food Group, Stedelijk Museum Breda en Van Gogh Museum Enterprises.
